Meet Homespun Gallery’s October Artist: Molly Wolfe

Meet the Artist dressing up our October Gallery, Indianapolis artist Molly Wolfe!

Don’t miss our October Gallery with Molly Wolfe! Her original work, prints, and stickers will be up through the month of October and we are thrilled to welcome this unique, vibrant artist to our shop!

About Molly Wolfe:

Emerging artist, Molly Wolfe is best known for her symmetrical watercolor paintings. Through a self-reflective lens, her work explores the relationship between memory and identity through the use of everyday objects, patterns, and symbolism. “My paintings’ ability to trigger a sense of familiarity and nostalgia is essential when understanding my work.” she says, “ Although the images presented will not make viewers recall the same stories as I do, the compositional arrangements will make each person consider their own connections to the objects and the memories they personally associate with them.” Her most recent work consists of large-scale, archival watercolor paintings on canvas focusing on imagery from her childhood spent in the midwest.

You can keep up with Molly and her art by checking out her website mollywolfeart.com.

Homespun Gallery Presents: Tara Magan Art

Meet our September Gallery Artist and shop this local artist’s work all month long!

We are SO excited to introduce you to our September Gallery Artist, Tara Magan Art.

Tara Nastoff is an Indianapolis based, abstract line artist who discovered her distinctive personal style in 2020. The artist explores the use of lines, color blocking, and up-cycled art supplies  to highlight the beauty and simplicity of the human body. As a child, Tara adamantly strove to create realistic portraits. Yet, her personal style now honors the concept of cherishing and finding the beauty in your mistakes.

We love Tara’s work for her gorgeous depictions of women, her use of clean lines and striking color combinations. We first came across Tara’s work at a pop up shop in Fountain Square. After I bought two pieces for my own home I couldn’t wait to introduce Tara to our Homespun audience. You can support this local artist and shop her original pieces and prints all month long at Homespun! With 8 original pieces and dozens of smaller prints there is SO MUCH beauty to browse on our gallery.

Meet Your Maker: Artery Ink

Get to know the makers behind your favorite Homespun brands!

MEET YOUR MAKER: ARTERY INK
Meet Gloria and Mara, the co owners, artists, creators and hearts behind Artery Ink, a brand based in the midwest spreading body positivity and education through art.

How did you get started?
We started Artery Ink in 2014 – both myself and Gloria were working in the service industry and were living a somewhat unhealthy lifestyle. After experiencing our own and some family health struggles we realized we weren’t living the life we dreamed of. We started researching a ton on how we could treat our bodies better and feel healthier. We couldn’t believe all that we didn’t know and all that we were learning. Once we started implementing some of those lifestyle changes we were amazed at how different we felt and thought “why isn’t this more common knowledge – everyone should be able to feel this good!?” Because we are both artists we decided to combine our new-found love of health and wellness with our art and then Artery Ink was born. We hope that our art and products inspire you to look a bit deeper and understand a bit more about how your body works. When we understand something we can appreciate it more and take better care of it. That way we can all live healthier and happier lives!

What is currently inspiring you?
We are inspired mostly by the world we live in. The natural world never ceases to amaze us. That is exactly why our favorite things to do often are things that we do outside. Hiking, biking, traveling, eating and cooking are our biggest passions! These inspire our art daily and just make us feel good. If you feel good inspiration comes naturally!

What projects are you currently working on / excited about?
We are always working on new designs so we have a lot planned for the rest of the year. We love to use our artwork to draw attention to bigger causes – like diabetes awareness, pancreatic cancer and national suicide week, which are just a few examples. Additionally, we love to create custom apparel for teams to help boost spirits and bring them together! A lot of our orders are set up with a group but sometimes we have our own designs that we will release because we love them and want to remind you of the amazing things going on under your skin.
– Do you have a favorite collection or product of your own?
It’s hard to pick, but our apparel is definitely something we use/wear every day! It’s hard to find us without an Artery tee on.
– What are some of your favorite or newest products?
We are releasing new products all of the time, but one of the coolest things we’ve done is our subscription box called “Get Pumped!” This is a quarterly subscription box filled with exclusive and unique goodies that can only be found inside the box. These products range from water bottles and socks to notebooks and beanies!

How is it August Already?

Happy first week of August! Here’s all things happening in and around the shop.

SUMMER, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?

Between sunny days shopping local, rearranging our store displays, and having fun at our events like Handicraft Exchange and Mass Ave’s Sidewalk Sales, we feel like August has SNUCK UP on us. Here are a few shop and community happenings as we enter the first week of the last month of summer.

In the shop:

Our staff has been working hard jazzing up the store. No major changes, but we’ve been organizing and reorganizing, creating brand new shelf displays, and freshening up the store for an even better shopping experience. Very thankful for our teams’ flair for creative displays, and for their ability to make this HOUSESPUN a HOMESPUN. Come on in to see our progress as we make an even brighter, fresher space!

What We’re Loving:

Leo Season: Happy Birthday to all the passionate, confident, independent LEOS! Find the perfect, unique gift for your favorite Leo in store & online.

SNACKS: We got so snacky in the store, we had to add shelves to our snack section just to fit all the salty, sweet, deliciousness we have for you! Next time you come shopping we hope you’re hungry!

TANKS: Rocking these Indiana and Indianapolis tanks as long as we can!

BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS: From elementary to grad school, we have the essentials for your best semester yet. With notebooks, planners, calendars, pencils and pencil pouches, totes and backpacks, and of course snacks and coffees we are ace-ing back to school shopping in store and online.
